And the adventure continues...
Mike & Kathy Meagher
Starting out Wednesday at the petit marché in
the Place aux Herbes in Uzès...

The brothers take a long lunch in the afternoon sun...

A drive north of town takes us to Lussan, where Kathy mixes with the
blooming forsythia.

The Chateau Allègre, just northwest of Lussan on the
way to Saint-Ambroix, looms on a cliff...this medieval ruin is in
the process of being restored by the government. |
Another day, another road trip to Les
Alpilles, south of Avignon, where we visited a true ruin...

a sprawling Roman aqueduct/mill
just south of the town of Fontvieille.

Looking at Mike & Kathy through the
aqueduct, one way back to the
ruins...

...then the other way, where the water poured out
into the delta toward Arles and the Mediterranean Sea.

Onward into the beautiful valley between Maussanne and Saint-Remy-de-Provence...

where the fortified village of Les Baux
still sits atop the Alpilles.

Next stop, Arles where the Roman-era arena still hosts bullfighting
events of all sorts.

Last stop of the day ...Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, by the
beautiful Mediterranean Sea...beautiful in spite of the nasty wind and
drizzle. |
