Feasting with the Pianis

Brian, Judi, Kassi and Paige arrive from New England,
ready to get a
taste of the south of France...

The 2000-yr-old Pont du Gard makes Brian feel young again...

...as does the 1000-yr-old olive tree!

After a quick (three-hour) stop for lunch in Arpaillargues at the
Chateau Marie d'Agoult...

...a 17th century building with a beautiful courtyard...

...we crossed over the river Gard at Pont St-Nicholas, a
few miles upriver from the Pont du Gard.

Judi & Brian at a roadside vineyard, with Uzès in
the distant background right ...

Joe makes a quick check of the status of the vines with the question:
"Will they be ready in September?"

The Piani trio stop at the local patisserie and clean out
the shelves...great desserts to come.

Later that evening, an olive and olive oil tasting...
the Italian and French olive oils are neck and neck!

First stop on the way out of town: the caves of
Chateauneuf du Pape for a little wine tasting.

It's hard work choosing which tastes best...
but Brian and Paige are up to it...

...no matter how many stops and glasses it takes!

A fond goodbye at the Avignon train station as the Pianis head back
north to Paris to top off their trip...but we'll see them again soon in
New Hampshire.
Merci et bon voyage!
